Ford Plans Several Electric SUVs for Lincoln by 2026

US carmaker Ford is said to be planning comprehensive electrification of its Lincoln premium offshoot for the North American market.

According to the report, at least five new electric cars are to be added to the Lincoln brand's portfolio by 2026.

These will be purely battery-electric vehicles that will replace or complement models such as the Corsair, Nautilus, Aviator, and Navigator. The strategy to electrify Lincoln is a key element of Ford's planned $30 billion (about €26.5 billion) investment in electric cars and batteries by 2030, which Ford announced just over a year ago.

According to insiders, the first of the new Lincoln e-cars will be a large crossover in the format of the Aviator. The vehicle is expected to go into production in late 2024, early 2025 and be assembled at Ford's Oakville plant in Ontario. Ford wants to prepare this plant for the production of e-cars with an investment of 1.5 billion dollars (about 1.3 billion euros).

This is to be followed by several more e-crossovers in the format of the compact Corsair and the mid-sized Nautilus in Oakville by 2026, the insiders cited internal planning documents. Production plans for these models, however, have not yet been finalized, they said.

According to the sources, the smaller Lincoln electric models will be based on a further development of the platform that currently serves as the underpinning of the Ford Mustang Mach E. Larger Lincoln electric SUVs in the Navigator format, planned for 2026 according to the sources, will be built on the platform of the Ford F-150 Lightning electric pick-up.

Ford has not yet confirmed the vehicle plans. According to Reuters, a spokeswoman said it was "too early to talk about specific details on the future vehicle or production plans".
