Volkswagen launches online sales for ID.5 and ID.4 leasing

With immediate effect, customers at Volkswagen in Germany can also lease new vehicles online. The all-electric models of the Volkswagen ID. ID.4 and ID.5 will be on offer. We are thus taking a decisive step in the digitalisation of our sales as part of our ACCELERATE strategy. This makes us one of the first major automobile manufacturers to offer the conclusion of leasing contracts for freely configurable vehicles online," says Klaus Zellmer, Member of the Board of Management for Marketing, Sales and After-Sales at Volkswagen. The offer is to be rolled out successively in other European countries.

Klaus Zellmer continues: "According to surveys, around two-thirds of our customers would like to be able to purchase our vehicles online. We are now fulfilling this wish. We aim to offer our customers an excellent range of products and an excellent buying experience, both at the dealership and online. This will also strengthen our competitiveness in the long term."

According to the manufacturer, the new offer from Volkswagen Germany enables a complete and seamless online experience - from vehicle configuration and the design of leasing options to digital authentication and the conclusion of the contract. All conveniently on the PC, tablet or smartphone.

The dealership would continue to be closely integrated into the online business model, both organisationally and financially, and would also remain an important point of contact for customers, from advice and test drives to delivery and service. "Online sales do not replace stationary trade. We need a good online presence just as much as we need a strong and effective local presence through the trade. Retailers are and will remain the face of our customers. They are irreplaceable in providing personal, competent advice," says Zellmer.

The new online leasing of new vehicles will be successively expanded to include cash purchase and financing options that can be concluded online. Online leasing is another component of the digital marketplace on volkswagen.de, where German Volkswagen dealers have already been offering their immediately available new and used stock vehicles for sale since the end of 2021.
