This is what the first all-electric Jeep SUV looks like!
Christian Meunier, the former CEO of Infiniti, was appointed President of the Jeep brand in 2019. Since then, he has made it clear that the brand is putting less emphasis on interior design and luxury and more focus on the technology under the bonnet. With the preview of the first all-electric Jeep® SUV, he is putting his money where his mouth is.
Jeep plans to have four all-electric models and ten plug-in hybrids on the road by 2022. The most important model, the Jeep Wrangler, will first be launched as a PHEV, followed by an all-electric model in 2022 - according to the plans in January 2022. Now the market launch of the first electric Jeep has been delayed until the first half of 2023, as the company states in a corresponding announcement. What we can expect then, however, we can already share with you.
Stellantis Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Carlos Tavares unveiled images of the first 100 per cent battery electric Jeep® SUV during the presentation of the 'Dare Forward 2030' strategic plan, which continues the brand's global initiatives to fully electrify its SUV portfolio. As Tavares points out, this new all-electric Jeep is set to launch early next year. In doing so, it is expected to both extend the brand's range and be the next step towards realising the Jeep brand's vision of "Zero Emission Freedom".
With the Jeep Wrangler Magneto Concept, the brand released the first glimpse of an all-electric Jeep. This was already announced in February 2021. However, as we can now see, the concept vehicle and the production SUV, which is due to hit the road next year, are not very similar.
