Polestar expects 60 per cent sales growth in 2023

Polestar expects 60 per cent sales growth in 2023

Thomas Ingenlath, CEO of the e-car brand Polestar, already announced on Twitter at the beginning of January that the manufacturer had reached its annual target of 50,000 electric cars delivered.

"  Now we are fully focused on 2023. There will be the usual quarterly fluctuations, but I am confident that we will continue to secure our supply chain to meet the growing demand for Polestar 2, start the first deliveries of Polestar 3 and bring Polestar 4 to market."

While the all-electric Polestar 2 is currently the Swedish-Chinese brand's flagship model, there are several new models in the pipeline: The first new model will be the Polestar 3 performance SUV, which will be manufactured at Volvo's US plant in Ridgeville, South Carolina, along with its cousin, the all-new Volvo EX90 e-SUV. Also due to be unveiled later this year is the Polestar 4 SUV coupe.

"Polestar is gaining strong momentum in Germany through its direct sales business model and is now one of the brand's largest markets globally. I am delighted that we have reached this milestone so soon after the launch of the Polestar 2 in 2020," commented Willem Baudewijns, Managing Director of Polestar Germany. The business model will also launch the Polestar  3 and Polestar 4.

In 2023, Polestar expects global sales to increase by almost 60% to around 80,000 vehicles, driven by solid sales of the Polestar 2 and, later in the year, the first deliveries of the Polestar 3.
