In 2022, the BMW Group has also once again significantly accelerated sales in the field of electric mobility. With 215,755 fully electric vehicles sold by the BMW and MINI brands, the BMW Group more than doubled BEV sales year-on-year as announced (+107.7%). At the end of 2022, the 500,000th all-electric vehicle was handed over to the customer. A milestone!

In total, the Group delivered 2,399,636 BMW, MINI and Rolls-Royce brand vehicles worldwide last year. Analogous to VW, a decline was also evident at BMW. At -4.8 per cent, the decline was slightly less pronounced. After a decline in deliveries in the first half of the year, sales gradually increased in the second half. Also in line, the fourth quarter has become the strongest in 2022.

"Our strong product portfolio is the best response to a challenging environment. As a result, we have more than doubled sales of fully electric vehicles in 2022. We are confident that we will continue this success story in 2023. This is because we continue to record high order intake, especially for our fully electric models:" - Pieter Nota, Member of the Board of Management of BMW AG, responsible for Customers, Brands and Sales.

For 2023, the assumption is that sales will continue to grow. The focus is clearly "on the further ramp-up of electromobility—the next milestone for 2023: a 15% share of all-electric vehicles in total sales. With the introduction of the BMW i5 this year, we are taking another significant step on the path to the electrification of our model range," Nota continues.

The New Class will play a decisive role in the alignment. This has been made a little more tangible with the BMW i Vision Dee. In 2023, the brand plans to provide further insights into the revolutionary vehicle concept of the New Class.

In the overall picture, electrified vehicles play a significant role at BMW. For example, with 372,956 electrified vehicles (incl. plug-in hybrids) sold, sales growth was +35.6% year-on-year. At the BMW M brand, the electric variants such as the i4 M50 and iX M60 and the very first electrified high-performance model BMW XM also played their part in a successful year-end.

The premium car brand MINI sold 292,923 units last year (-3.0%). Sales of the electrified MINI models developed positively. The number of electrified MINI models (incl. plug-in hybrids) sold rose by +14.3% to 60,839 vehicles, accounting for around 21% of the MINI brand's total global sales in 2022, with the all-electric MINI Cooper SE remaining the brand's best-selling model variant in 2022. Last year, 43,744 units of the MINI Cooper SE were sold worldwide, an increase of +25.5% from the previous year. Two more e-models will follow in 2023.
