2022-2023 Toyota Hilux GR Sport: Price and Features
Toyota announced the GR Sport version of the Hilux pick-up.
In addition to exclusive details on the exterior and interior, it also receives a new suspension that offers better performance. The offer is based on the 2.8-liter diesel engine with 204 hp in the mechanical chapter.
Based on the success achieved by Toyota Gazoo Racing in the Dakar Rally, Toyota decided to launch a GR Sport version of the Hilux pick-up in Europe, which becomes the top model in this range.
The exclusive details on the exterior and interior underline the special character of the Hilux GR Sport, highlighting the front grille with a specific G pattern mesh and a prominent central horizontal bar. The brand's logo was replaced by the name Toyota, written in full, in an evocation of classic models.
With an image inspired by the fourth-generation design of the early '80s, this new Hilux pickup features a fresh front styling with new fog lights.
The 17-inch alloy wheels come in a contrasting black and machined finish, mounted on off-road tires. The black color extends to the rearview mirrors, side steps, rear opening fenders. As with the Corolla GR Sport and C-HR GR Sport models, the exterior also features the discreet GR Sport logo.
In the technical chapter, the main innovation was the introduction of new shock absorbers and front coil springs. The new suspension offers better performance, with a faster damper response and better heat dissipation.
The stiffer front springs and new shock absorbers are painted red to emphasize the unique character of the Hilux GR Sport, which offers the best off-road driving skills.
Under the bonnet is the new 2.8-liter diesel engine, introduced in 2020, which develops a power of 204 bhp and a torque of 500 Nm. The transmission of power to the wheels is ensured by a six-speed automatic transmission.
Exclusive interior
The interior of the Hilux GR Sport, available only in the twin-cab version, is also specific, highlighting the new sports front seats with a combination of black leather and red suede with red stitching.
The GR Sport logo can be seen on the seatbacks, mats, the “Start” button, and the animation graphic on the instrument panel. Aluminum sports pedals match carbon fiber trim and the red line across the width of the instrument panel. The door panel lighting is a soft blue.
The Hilux GR Sport will arrive in the UK next September with a standard feature that includes LED headlights, smart key, bi-zone air conditioning, downhill assistance control, and automatic locking differential.
