What will be the next Alfa Romeo model?
After the presentation of the Tonale, the new SUV from the Arese brand for the C segment, Alfa Romeo has just officially unveiled more information about what will be its third and next model of its kind. Namely, that it will be fully electric.
In an interview given to Automotive News Europe, the new CEO of Alfa Romeo, the Frenchman Jean-Phillipe Imparato, decided to reveal many of the most important aspects of a model that, once on the market, will become the third proposal of its kind. , after Stelvio and, now, Tonale, in the Arese brand's line-up.
So and about this new SUV, Imparato confirmed that not only will it adopt a positioning below the one for which the Tonale is destined, the C segment, but also the possibility of being able to be called Brennero.
With its arrival on the market, according to the same official, scheduled for 2024, the Alfa Romeo Brennero will present itself as the first 100% electric proposal of the Italian brand, although it also has versions with combustion engines. Which, moreover, will even reach dealers first, since the EV is only scheduled for 2025. That is, precisely the year from which Alfa Romeo plans to start launching only 100% electric models.
Moreover, after having already achieved something similar, during his time at Peugeot, Jean-Phillipe Imparato also announced his intention to reposition Alfa Romeo, namely in terms of prices, focusing more on profitability than on volumes.
As an example to follow, the Frenchman points to BMW, with which he intends, moreover, to compete, in terms of prices, in the segments in which both brands are present. This, also to achieve parity in terms of production costs, in just a few years.
Five new models are on the way
Meanwhile, while it advances with this repositioning, Alfa Romeo is preparing a strong product offensive, which will include at least five new models. Starting with the already presented Tonale, and two others will be the replacements for Giulia and Stelvio. The latter two are also the result of the Italian brand's decision to discontinue the Giorgio platform.
As for the fourth model, it should be the new electric SUV, for now, known as Brennero, while the fifth is still immersed in a sea of questions, as Alfa Romeo still hasn't decided what to do.
The possibility is, for example, the creation of a new model more targeted to the North American market, which will correspond to the intention already announced by Imparato of putting Alfa Romeo to compete outside Europe.
On the other hand, it is important not to forget that Alfa Romeo has already announced its intention to present at least one novelty per year, until 2030. An objective that, in addition, can be a new model, as well as the renewal or updating of an existing model.
