Nissan Ariya Presents  the new electric platform

Nissan plans to pave the way to its electrified future with a new modular architecture.

All future electric cars of the Japanese brand will be built on the CMF EV platform, according to a statement by the company. In addition to new technical possibilities, the platform, which is known internally as the "flying carpet", offers designers extensive creative freedom. The all-electric coupé-crossover Nissan Ariya will be launched in the summer.

"The CMF EV platform is a marvel of creative engineering," says Pierre Loing, Vice President Product Planning at Nissan. He says it is capable of creating an exceptional living room-style space. A total of 15 different electric models of the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi alliance are to be built on the new base. According to the company, it thus plays an important role in being able to implement the joint Roadmap 2030 for an electrified future.

"Our global teams have had a unique opportunity to showcase everything we've learned about electric mobility over the last decade," says developer David Moss. A characteristic feature, he says, is the flat floor assembly with narrow batteries. Among other things, the air-conditioning system has been moved far to the front, they say. The front and rear rows of seats offer more legroom thanks to the elimination of the transmission tunnel. The interior can be further customised with a sliding centre console.

According to the company, several drive configurations are available: from a single electric motor to a dual-motor with all-wheel drive. Called "e-4orce", this system balances power and control with precise engine and braking interventions. According to Nissan, the Ariya is already available for pre-order in the UK, Norway and the Netherlands, with other European markets to follow shortly.
