Fiat Goes all-electric in Europe

In its presentation of the latest business figures for 2021, the Stellantis Group, which comprises a total of 14 car brands, specified the electrification strategy of Fiat and its sporty offshoot Abarth.

According to this, the two Italian brands will only offer purely electric cars in Europe from 2027. Until now, Stellantis at Fiat always spoke of a time frame between 2025 and 2030.

The presentation also contains information about the upcoming electric models of the two brands. Accordingly, an as-yet-unspecified e-car from Fiat is to be presented this year or next, rumoured to be an all-electric Panda, which will be a size larger than the all-electric Fiat 500 that has been available for some time. On the commercial vehicle side, the all-electric Scudo was confirmed for 2022/23 and another e-model was promised, according to rumours an all-electric Ulysse, a van that was last produced until 2014.

In the model roadmap included in the presentation, Stellantis announced a total of 13 new all-electric cars as well as plug-in hybrids. There are already announced models such as the Opel Astra as well as the Peugeot 308 and their estate variants as pure e-cars, but also some as yet unknown vehicles. These include two passenger car models from Citroen and a purely electric Jeep.

On the plug-in side, Stellantis will bring the Alfa Romeo Tonale, the Citroen C5X, the Jeep Grand Cherokee (already available) as well as the Opel Astra and the Peugeot 308 estate as well as a crossover in the C-segment in the next two years. Stellantis has also promised a plug-in hybrid for the US brand Dodge.
