APMA Plans Its Own E-SUV

A new brand will join the game...

Canadian automotive suppliers no longer want to leave the electromobility business to carmakers alone: the APMA, in which 90% of Canadian suppliers are organized, is planning its own electric SUV under the title "Project Arrow", which is to be developed and built entirely in Canada. The presentation of the first prototype is planned for CES 2023, with series production starting in 2025. The plan is to produce around 60,000 units per year. According to APMA President Flavio Volpe, more than 130 companies have already expressed their interest in the project.

There are still few details about the e-drive itself, but the battery pack will unsurprisingly be located in the underbody. So far, only one electric motor is planned for the front axle. According to a report in "Auto, Motor und Sport," the vehicle will be positioned between the Tesla Model Y and the Model X, which means it will probably be over 4.75 meters long. 

There is no internationally active car brand in Canada so far, but there are some plants of US manufacturers such as FCA or GM. Accordingly, a large supplier industry has developed. This is now to be upgraded with its own brand.
