New environmental bonus, new Tesla prices

New environmental bonus, new Tesla prices

New year, new environmental bonus, new prices: Tesla is reacting to the new subsidy regime in Germany and effectively making Model 3 and Model Y more expensive. However, there is an advantage for business owners.

In the German configurator, Tesla already indicates the prices with the manufacturer's share of the environmental bonus deducted. With the turn of the year, the environmental bonus for Tesla vehicles with a list price of over 40,000 euros dropped from 5,000 to 3,000 euros. At the same time, the manufacturer bonus was reduced by 1,000 euros to 1,500 euros. The total subsidy thus amounts to 4,500 euros. However, the prices for the two models have remained the same at 49,990 euros for the Model 3 and 53,990 euros for the Model Y (in each case with the manufacturer's bonus already deducted). Both models are therefore effectively 2,000 euros more expensive gross in the new year.

In Austria, the manufacturer's environmental bonus amounts to 2,400 euros in each case, so that the price for the Model Y and the Model 3 are both 57,390 euros (with the e-mobility subsidy taken into account). Why the prices in Austria are so significantly higher than those in Germany cannot be explained by the higher VAT alone and is actually incomprehensible.

Business owners are happy about more equipment options: in addition to the environmental bonus, they can also claim another electric car subsidy, which is not based on the basic list price, however, but on those with extras. In the case of the Model Y, therefore, many extras had to be dispensed with last year in order to be eligible for this subsidy. The most popular model was therefore the medium Long Range version in white, which is free of charge. With the officially lowered base price, however, a black paint job or white interior is now also possible without exceeding the important company car price threshold. With the Model 3, on the other hand, you can't get below that in the Long Range version, even without extras.

If a new Tesla model is leased, the subsidy depends on the lease term. With a leasing period of 6 - 11 months, the total subsidy is 1,875 euros, with a contract period of 12 - 23 months 3,750 euros. At the same time, the retention period is extended to 12 months. The sale of short-term leased models to neighbouring countries will thus probably be a thing of the past.
