Rolls-Royce Spectre: All the facts about the first electric Rolls-Royce

  Spectre is the name of the first purely electric Rolls-Royce.

At first glance, you think you're looking at a Rolls-Royce Wraith. But even though the vehicle class and proportions have imposing similarities, those responsible at Rolls-Royce never tire of emphasising that the Spectre is a completely new car - electric, of course, elegant and wickedly expensive. Strictly speaking, it does not replace the Rolls-Royce Wraith, but the elegant Phantom Coupé.

 "Spectre shows how perfectly suited the brand is to electrification. Its all-electric powertrain will ensure the brand's continued success and relevance. At the same time, it reinforces all the characteristics that make a Rolls-Royce a Rolls-Royce," says Torsten Müller-Ötvös, CEO of Rolls-Royce. As early as 1900, Sir Charles Stewart Rolls, co-founder of Rolls-Royce, dreamed of an electric model: "The electric car is silent and clean. There is no smell or vibration. They should become very useful if fixed charging stations can be set up."
Like the Wraith, the new Spectre is an elegantly styled fastback with a gently sloping rear. Its dimensions are simply gigantic, with a length of 5.45 metres providing ample space for four people. Access is via two mighty doors, which swing open towards the rear in typical Rolls-Royce fashion. The wheelbase is 3.21 metres - just as powerful as the vehicle's weight, which is just under three tonnes thanks to the all-wheel drive and the battery pack in the underbody.

 The standard all-wheel steering reduces the turning circle to 12.7 metres. With its more than 100 kWh battery pack, the electric range is said to be 520 kilometres and the standard consumption of the over 430 kW / 585 hp / 900 Nm powerful Briton is 21.5 kWh per 100 kilometres. From a standstill, the car accelerates to 100 km/h in just under 4.5 seconds and is electronically limited to 250 km/h.
Torsten Müller-Ötvös: "Spectre is first and foremost a Rolls-Royce and secondly an electric vehicle. It is the beginning of a new chapter for our brand, our exceptional customers and the luxury industry. For this reason, I believe the Spectre is the most perfect product Rolls-Royce has ever produced."


The design is typical of Rolls-Royce - imposing, elegant, commanding and timeless. The radiator grille is wider and flatter than usual - framed by LED lights that shine just as strikingly as the rear. The electric colossus rolls on mighty 23-inch wheels and enchants with a never-ending window line. The optimised Planar suspension system as well as a smooth underbody and a CW value of 0.25 are supposed to ensure maximum driving comfort.

 The interior is surprisingly classic - displays, appliqués and controls are familiar from current Rolls-Royce models. The familiar starry sky is complemented by an LED starscape in the door and side panels. Reservations are being accepted now; the Spectre will be launched in autumn 2023, with prices of around 400,000 euros, right between the Cullinan and Phantom.
