Mercedes-AMG: EQE Models Are Ready For New Decade
Mercedes' AMG sports department has stood for high-volume internal combustion engines for a very long time.
Now, the EQE 43 (350 kW/476 hp) and EQE 53 (505kW/687 hp) business sedans are already the second electric model series. This is stated in an announcement of the company. The maximum torque ranges from 858 to 1000 Nm.
According to AMG, both EQE models are equipped with a 328-volt battery and a usable energy content of 90.6 kWh. AMG states that the range is up to 533 kilometers. By reducing the proportion of cobalt to ten percent, cell chemistry has taken a major step towards sustainability. Another new feature is the possibility of installing updates for the battery management system over the air. The recuperation power is up to 260 kW.
Another advantage of the new battery generation is the short charging times. The energy storage system can charge up to 170 kW at fast-charging stations with direct current. In this case, power for 180 kilometers (WLTP) can be stored in 15 minutes. Both models can be charged at home or public charging stations with 11 kW or optionally 22 kW alternating current via an onboard charger. In Japan, bidirectional charging is also possible.
According to AMG, thermal management plays a part in shortening charging times. If the navigation with Electric Intelligence is activated, the battery is preheated or cooled while driving to reach the optimum temperature for fast charging at the charging point. The battery certificate is valid for up to ten years or 250,000 kilometers.
In both models, the fully variable all-wheel drive continuously distributes power between the front and rear axles depending on the driving situation. Torque is checked 160 times per second and changed if necessary. Air suspension with adaptive damping and rear-axle steering are also standard. AMG is still keeping a low profile on prices.
