Lotus Eletre: Striking and progressive electric hyper-SUV

The Lotus Eletre will be available in markets around the world, with the first customer deliveries starting in 2023 in the UK, Europe and China.

The British sports car manufacturer presents its striking and progressive hyper SUV. This is seen as a pioneer of a new generation of all-electric SUVs. According to the brand, it takes the core principles and Lotus DNA from over 70 years of sports car design and engineering and develops them into a completely new lifestyle car for the next generation of Lotus customers.

After previewing its e-mobility strategy in autumn of 2021 and hinting at an SUV to hit the road, Lotus is now delivering. The Lotus Eletre would incorporate the company's expertise in ride and handling, steering and optimised aerodynamics. Which has been further developed about e-mobility. The Eletre takes the heart and soul of the latest Lotus sports car - the Emira - and the revolutionary aerodynamics of the all-electric Evija hypercar and reinterprets them as a hyper-SUV.

At times, the Eletre was known only as of the Lotus Type 132, but now, under its actual designation, it is to become the "shining flagship for sustainable mobility", as Lotus indicates. The Eletre is an all-wheel-drive, has a battery capacity of over 100kWh and an output of 600 hp. Charging is possible with up to 350 kW. 400 km can be recharged in 20 minutes. The targeted maximum WLTP range of the vehicle is about 600 km. In addition, the vehicle can be charged with 22 kW AC as standard, which reduces the time spent at the socket.

In addition, the E-Hyper SUV relies on the most advanced active aerodynamics package ever fitted to a production SUV and intelligent driving technologies such as the world's first operational LIDAR (Light Detection and Ranging) system. Add to this a dynamic drive-up sequence that provides a dramatic moment every time the driver approaches the vehicle, and it's clear that the Eletre makes a simple statement - this is Lotus reinvented, the birth of a new icon in the Lotus stable.

The company says the Eletre builds on Lotus' new and versatile Electric Premium Architecture (EPA). Like other platforms, this presents itself as a ground-level "skateboard" platform. This should make it possible to adapt to different battery sizes, motors, component arrangements and intelligent drive technologies. For the Eletre, this includes end-to-end autonomous driving technology that is future-proof and can be updated as needed.
