Lincoln's electric cars become "sanctuaries
The luxury brand Lincoln, which belongs to Ford, has now presented the Star Concept, an e-car that is supposed to set the design trend for four e-models by 2026. By the middle of the decade, more than half of all Lincoln cars will be purely electric.
The Lincoln brand is best known for its comfortable, spacious SUVs with up to eight seats. Comfort and quiet gliding (called "Quiet Flight") will be retained in the e-cars, but at the same time they will be given a "fascinating, dynamic new face", as Joy Falotico, president of Lincoln, emphasises. The design language will be implemented inside and out so that Lincoln's principles of beauty, humanity, glide and sanctuary are on full display. Yes, you read that right: The E-Lincoln is intended to become the third space, a sanctuary as it were, for customers. To this end, three different moods can be created in the interior scent, images and music with resonant names such as Coastal Morning, Mindful Vitality and Evening Chill.
The SUV style also remains true. The Lincoln Star Concept is bulky like its combustion engine colleagues and offers plenty of space inside. By using an E-platform, traditional restrictions in vehicle design would be removed, accordingly, the Lincoln Star would push the boundaries of Lincoln design, as Anthony Lo, Chief Design Officer of Ford Motor Company, explains. Originally, the platform of the Rivian was considered. However, this cooperation has been terminated in the meantime. Nevertheless, the e-models that will go on sale will probably be much more convenient than the Star Concept, possibly only fully electric versions of the existing combustion models. According to initial information - unconfirmed by Lincoln - these will be e-variants of the Aviator and the Corsair, which could be presented as early as in the coming months.
Details are not known. But Reuters also reported in February that there may be e-variants of the Aviator, Corsair, Nautilus and Navigator models, i.e. the entire currently available model range. Plug-in hybrids are already available for the Aviator and Corsair Grand Touring models.
