Genesis reveals electric X Convertible 

Unveiled at an event in California, the Genesis X Convertible shares architecture and an electric powertrain with the other two concept vehicles, the X Concept and X Speedium Coupé, unveiled in 2021 and 2022. The latest evolution of the "Athletic Elegance" design language, the new concept car provides a further glimpse of the look of future electric cars from Genesis.

The electric convertible features a folding hardtop roof with individual glass panels above the front occupants and is designed to provide an immersive driving experience that connects the driver and passengers directly with their surroundings.

With its long bonnet, short front overhang and long wheelbase, the X Convertible have the distinctive proportions of Genesis' Athletic Elegance design language. The powerful parabolic lines at the sides and the muscular shapes around the wheels are also typical of the design language.

At the front of the car are the brand's signature LED quad headlights, which are a defining feature of the brand's signature two-line design. As with the X Speedium Coupé, the headlights are integrated into a striking interpretation of the Crest radiator grille of the combustion models. Cooling for the drive and batteries is provided by smaller openings in the lower area of the front bumper on the all-electric convertible.

At the rear, the concave elliptical shape of the tailgate with an integrated spoiler catches the eye. The horizontal quad tail lights are reminiscent of those on the X Concept and X Speedium Coupé, while the striking V-shaped recess in the tailgate is influenced by the iconic crest and wings of the Genesis logo. The concept car's wheels feature the brand's signature G-Matrix pattern and have a concave aero dish shape that is designed to both improve airflow and help cool the brakes.

The exterior of the X Convertible Concept is finished in a special Crane White paint. The white crane represents nobility and sanctity in Korea and is an important cultural symbol that Genesis wanted to incorporate into the concept. The result is a white finish coated with pearlescent particles to create a luxurious sheen that frames the contrasting interior.

The E-Cabrio Concept has four seats; the interior designers placed a special focus on the immediate driver environment. The wraparound instrument panel, which seamlessly integrates the centre console, places the driver at the centre and is designed to emphasise the e-car's performance potential.

The interior is inspired by the architecture of traditional Korean roofs. The Giwa Navy and Dancheong Orange colours are intended to provide a modern look and harmonise with the car's lively character. The main interior colour is Giwa Navy, named after the "Giwa", the roof tiles of Korean houses. The woven trim of recyclable wool fabric contrasts with the smooth surfaces of the leather seats, which are in the same colour. Dancheong Orange serves as a striking contrasting colour. It is used for the fine stitching seen throughout the interior. It is the same striking colour used for the trim on traditional Korean wooden buildings.

The X Convertible is the brand's third electric design study and a natural evolution of the X Concept. Unveiled in Los Angeles in 2021, the striking two-door coupe showcases the Genesis design language of Athletic Elegance and the brand's commitment to a sustainable future. The second vehicle, the X Speedium Coupé, is a high-performance sports coupé inspired by the Inje Speedium race track in Korea. It was unveiled in New York in April 2022 and features an evolution of the brand's design, including a striking LED signature in the signature Crest grille.
