CHEVROLET E-CAMARO (2025): Price and details
After the Ford Mustang Mach-E, F-150 Lightning and the GMC Hummer EV, the Camaro could be reinterpreted as an electric car from the middle of the decade. Chevrolet parent company GM is talking about a four-door sports sedan that could replace the US coupé with up to 659 hp. The speculation about the Chevrolet e-Camaro (2025) is linked to the group's strategy of launching a total of 30 electric models by 2025.
The Chevrolet e-Camaro (2025) would be based on the Ultium platform for electric cars, which will be introduced in 2020. GM has already invested billions in new battery factories in Ohio and Tennessee, which will soon produce batteries "Made in USA" for the company. The platform is flexibly adaptable to almost all vehicles. General Motors can use the Ultium platform to offer front-, all-wheel- and - interestingly for a new Camaro - rear-wheel drive for upcoming electric cars. The battery packs, developed with South Korean tech giant and battery expert LG, can be variably deployed in the platform for use and allow for capacities between 50 and 200 kWh. As the e-Camaro will continue to stand for performance and driving pleasure, we expect a larger battery to sit completely in the vehicle floor, keeping the muscle car's centre of gravity very low. The acceleration that General Motors expects from the new EV generation also fits in with this. The sprint to 60 mph (96km/h) should be possible in three seconds. With the 200 kWh electric storage, GM expects a range of up to 450 miles, the equivalent of about 720 kilometres. Since the electric muscle car is only a speculation so far, no prices have been mentioned yet. Currently, the most powerful Camaro ZL1 with supercharged V8 starts at around 54,200 euros in the USA (as of September 2021). This would also be a very attractive price for a top-engined Chevrolet e-Camaro (2025).
