2023 Citroën ë-Jumpy Hydrogen-Price and Features
According to Citroën, their feedback on the brand's first hydrogen fuel cell vehicle is very positive, underlining how well the hydrogen van is adapted to daily use.
The ë-Jumpy Hydrogen has been used for a variety of tasks, including transporting materials and small and large equipment between construction sites and emergency repairs in the event of water damage in the area - the daily work of Suez employees requires having a vehicle with sufficient range available around the clock. The individual trips within the city and in the outskirts are relatively short (around 100 kilometres), but numerous. The vehicles must therefore be available quickly and at all times, are usually loaded to more than half their capacity and the load is often more than 200 kilograms.
"With the Citroën ë-Jumpy Hydrogen, the brand reaches a new milestone in its electrification strategy. The hydrogen van completes our range of zero-emission light commercial vehicles, which is one of the largest on the market. This new solution combines the technologies of a lithium-ion battery with a fuel cell to respond to the daily needs of commercial operators thanks to a refuelling time of only three minutes and a range of up to 400 kilometres. This technology will play an essential role in the introduction of zero-emission mobility solutions for professionals." - Richard Meyer, Strategy & International Development Light Commercial Vehicles Citroën.
Citroën says its choice of hydrogen technology is fully in line with the brand's electrification strategy and its ambition to offer different technical solutions depending on the intended use. The ë-Jumpy Hydrogen completes the range of light electric commercial vehicles, from the My Ami Cargo available in France to the ë-Berlingo panel van, the ë-Jumpy and the ë-Jumper.
Electrification at Citroën is based on the principle of not compromising on capacity or practicality. The hydrogen solution is aimed at those who require a range of more than 300 kilometres for long journeys and who need a vehicle that charges quickly to maximise usage time and require unrestricted access to city centres.
The ë-Jumpy Hydrogen with hybrid electric-hydrogen technology offers a level of comfort that is in no way inferior to combustion vehicles. The user can go about his or her business at leisure without worrying about range or charging capacity. The high level of driving pleasure - a typical feature of electric propulsion - was very well received by the Suez testers: "You very quickly get used to the smooth and quiet driving of the ë-Jumpy Hydrogen (no engine noise or external noise pollution), which proves to be very easy and pleasant in all situations."
Thanks to a range of up to 400 kilometres in the WLTP cycle, the possible uses are very versatile. "As far as the powertrain is concerned, the ë-Jumpy Hydrogen offers a good range; there were no difficulties in recharging the battery and filling the hydrogen tank," is the feedback from Suez staff.
Citroën has ensured that the load volume of the ë-Jumpy Hydrogen is not compromised by the integration of the battery and hydrogen tanks. To preserve the primary function of the ë-Jumpy Hydrogen, the frequent transport of bulky and heavy objects, the battery was installed under the seats and the three hydrogen tanks under the floor. The useful volume is therefore unchanged compared to the electric, petrol and diesel versions: 5.3 cubic metres for the mid-length and 6.1 cubic metres for the XL.
