Almost all manufacturers are currently putting a lot of effort into powering their drives. The motto: Fuel consumption and emissions have to come down. Suzuki also took a radical step in 2020: The 1.0-liter three-cylinder engine with 111 hp, which is quite modern in itself, was dropped without replacement. The traditionalist among the SUVs is now powered only by a mildly hybridized four-cylinder gasoline engine with a displacement of 1.4 liters.
Previously, the engine produced 140 hp, but now it produces 129 hp. However, they get support around start-up: The 10 kW electric motor in the integrated starter generator (ISG) is to provide additional thrust. The mild hybrid system also includes a small 48-volt lithium-ion battery and a DC/DC converter that reduces the higher voltage for the 12-volt electrical system.

And the combined WLTP standard consumption of the front-wheel drive versions is 5.9 liters in the table. But is the current drive really economical and clean? In out test , it achieved an average consumption of an acceptable 6.4 liters. This is associated with a CO₂ balance of 175 g per mile.
