Renault Scenic celebrates its return as an E-SUV in 2024

The new all-electric Renault Scenic will be a five-seater.

In 2024, it will celebrate its comeback as an electric SUV on the all-electric CMF EV platform. This is also the platform on which the Megane E-Tech Electric will be built, which is being considered as a competitor for Volkswagen's ID.3. The Renault Scenic, on the other hand, is on a par with the ID.4.

In 2024, the Scenic should be on the road, at least that's what Auto Express assumes. This is justified by a concept that was teased at Renault's 2021 results announcement and is due to be fully revealed in May. Renault boss Luca de Meo said: "This concept will announce a future product. When we design concepts, we want to turn them into real cars." De Meo further elaborated that the Scenic must offer "more space and range" than the upcoming Megane.

The new Scenic will only be available as a five-seater. Asked at last year's Munich Motor Show whether the CMF EV platform would also be capable of seven seats, Renault's Executive Vice-President of Engineering, Gilles Le Borgne, replied, "No, that's not planned. We can have four-wheel drive, but not three rows of seats." In terms of visual appearance, he said, it was safe to assume that the new electric Scenic would follow the Megane. Expect a raised SUV variant of the Stromer, but with some changes to the design.

The front end will be slightly flatter than the Megane and will feature an unusual lighting design, with LED running lights running vertically along with the front corners, slim LED headlights and an oversized version of the current Renault diamond logo in the centre. The tailgate opens to bumper height and the already familiar full-width light bar will do its part to visually emphasise the width of the car too.

In terms of technical data, it is also said to be close to the Megane: a range of up to 470 kilometres in the WLTP test cycle, the slimmest battery on the market at eleven centimetres high, the largest info display in a compact car and the ability to charge bidirectionally are just some of the highlights of the new electric Megane. Renault offers the e-car in two drive variants with 96 kW / 130 hp and 160 kW / 218 hp. The top engine of the Mégane E-TECH Electric sprints from 0 to 100 km/h in just 7.4 seconds.
