Lucid promises the "highest range" for SUV Gravity

The electric car start-up Lucid has specified its second model, shown first pictures - and is not stingy with superlatives: The US company promises that the SUV Gravity should have more range than any other electric car (apart from other Lucid models like the current sedan Air). It should be around 800 kilometres on one battery charge - the Mercedes EQS sedan is the current front-runner with a range of up to 766 kilometres.

However, Lucid has not yet given any concrete technical data. Customers can look forward to "previously unimaginable performance", according to the manufacturer. According to reports, 750 kW (more than 1000 hp) is envisaged. The capabilities of the Lucid Electric Advanced Platform, LEAP for short, are to be fully exploited.

Lucid had already announced the model in 2020 when Lucid boss Peter Rawlinson held out the prospect of a premium luxury SUV based on the Lucid Air. Rawlinson said that the electric SUV would go into production in 2023. Now Lucid has announced that the Gravity will be available for order from the beginning of 2023 and will be delivered in 2024. Industry insiders expect prices to start at least 80,000 US dollars.

Depending on the equipment, the Gravity, positioned as a direct competitor to the Tesla Model X and the Mercedes EQS SUV, will offer two or three rows of seats and space for five to seven occupants.

The charging speed is reportedly more than 300 kW. Or to put it another way: within 20 minutes, the battery of the electric SUV, which is said to hold up to 113 kWh, is supposed to be able to absorb energy for a range of almost 500 kilometres.

Lucid plans to release official information on Gravity in early 2023.
