Kia EV6 wins 'Car of the Year' at 2022 What Car? Awards 2022-01-26

The Kia EV6 was named both 'Car of the Year' and 'Electric SUV of the Year' at the UK's prestigious 'What Car Awards'.

The Kia EV6 is the second vehicle to receive this award after the Kia e-Niro was named 'Car of the Year' in 2019.

Kia EV6, which won the 'Premium' category of the Car of the Year Award in Germany and was selected as the 'Crossover of the Year' by Top Gear, also made it to the finals in the 2022 Car of the Year elections.

Jason Jeong: "Kia EV6 is just the beginning"

Jason Jeong, President of Kia Europe, said: “Winning the 'Car of the Year' award is a great honor. The EV6 has been extremely well received by customers and experts in Europe, with its impressive real-life driving range, ultra-fast charging capabilities, modern design, and high-end interior. “The exciting thing is that the Kia EV6 is the beginning of our future offerings as we continue our journey to go electric with 11 new battery-electric models by 2026.”

The EV6 brings features such as long-range, zero-emission power, 800V ultra-fast charging, and modern design to the crossover SUV market. The EV6 can reach a driving range of up to 528 kilometers on a single charge in the WLTP mixed cycle. In addition, advanced 800V charging technology allows the driver to charge from 10 percent to 80 percent in just 18 minutes.

"What Car?" Car of the Year Awards

Every year, 'What Car?  identifies the best new cars in various vehicle categories. For a car to receive an award, it must have been tested by the What Car test team on the roads with its competitors and in a special test center. An overall 'Car of the Year' is then selected from the winners of each category.
